Find your exact ring size from finger diameter in mm โ full US, UK, AU, EU, and Japanese conversion chart with a live calculator and expert tips
Finger width (diameter in mm) is the most universally accurate way to find your ring size โ it works for every country's sizing system. Simply measure the diameter of your finger in mm using a ruler or calipers, then find that value in the Diameter column of the chart below. Read across for your US, UK, AU, EU, and Japanese ring size in one step.
The widest finger on most hands. Thumb ring diameter varies greatly between individuals โ always measure before ordering.
Slightly wider than the ring finger. Index finger rings need half a size up from your ring finger measurement.
Typically the same width as the index finger. Always measure individually โ every finger is different.
The most commonly measured finger. Average women's ring finger is 16.5 mm diameter (US 6). Average men's is 19 mm (US 10).
The narrowest finger. Pinky rings are petite โ measure carefully as small sizes are less commonly stocked.
The highlighted rows represent the most commonly worn ring sizes for women (US 4ยฝโ8). Men's common range (US 8โ12) falls in the 18.2 mm โ 21.4 mm diameter zone. Use the Diameter column as your primary lookup value for any international sizing system.

Fingers swell in heat and shrink in cold. A finger can measure up to 0.5 mm wider in summer vs. winter โ that's approximately half a ring size difference between seasons.
Fingers are widest in the evening after a full day of activity and fluid accumulation. Morning diameter measurements will typically read 0.2โ0.3 mm narrower than evening readings.
Fingers on your dominant hand are typically 0.3โ0.5 mm wider due to greater muscle development. Always measure the exact hand and finger you will wear the ring on.
Fluid retention during pregnancy can increase finger diameter by 0.5โ1.5 mm, which is 1โ2 full ring sizes. This is usually temporary and reverses after delivery.
Salty foods, alcohol, and strenuous exercise all cause temporary swelling that adds 0.2โ0.5 mm to finger diameter. Measure under normal resting conditions for best accuracy.
Some fingers have a wider knuckle than base. If your knuckle is more than 0.5 mm wider than the base, size to the knuckle and add sizing beads to the band to stop it from spinning.
Digital calipers give the most accurate finger diameter reading. Place the jaws gently around the ring finger at the widest point โ usually just below the knuckle joint.
Press the side of a ruler against a flat surface and lay your finger alongside it. Measure the widest width of the finger in millimetres from edge to edge.
This measurement is the diameter of your finger โ your finger width. Enter it directly into the calculator above or find it in the Diameter (mm) column of the chart.
Once you have your diameter in mm, read across the chart row to get your US, UK/AU, EU, and Japanese ring sizes simultaneously โ no conversion needed.
Cut a thin strip of paper 1 cm wide and 10 cm long. Wrap snugly around the base of your ring finger and mark the overlap point with a pen.
Lay the strip flat against a ruler. The length from the end to your mark is your finger circumference in mm. Enter this into the calculator using the "Circumference (mm)" option.
Divide your circumference by ฯ (3.14159) to get diameter: e.g. 51.9 mm รท 3.14159 = 16.5 mm diameter โ US Size 6 / UK M. Or just use the Circumference (mm) column directly in the chart.
