Use a clean, non-stretchy piece of paper. A strip cut from an A4 sheet works perfectly. Avoid tissue paper or paper towel — they stretch and give inaccurate readings.
Wrap the strip around the base of the correct finger on the correct hand. It should sit where a ring naturally rests — snug against skin without indenting it. Ensure no twists in the paper.
Hold the strip in place with your other hand, then make a clear mark with a pen exactly where the end of the strip meets the body of the strip going around the finger. This marked length is your finger circumference.
Lay the strip flat on a table and measure from the end to your mark in millimetres. For example: 61 mm. This is your finger circumference. Now match this to the chart below or enter it in the calculator.

Fastest method if you have a tailor's or sewing tape measure
A tailor's or sewing tape is ideal. Do not use a metal builder's tape (too rigid) or an elastic tape (stretches and gives false readings). The tape must have mm markings.
Same technique as the paper strip — wrap at the base of the intended finger on the correct hand, snug but not tight. Keep the tape flat with no twists.
Note the reading in mm. Repeat three times and average the results. For men, typical readings will be between 57 mm and 67 mm for most sizes (US 8 to US 11).
Men's fingers tend to change more with temperature and activity than women's. For the most accurate result, measure in the evening after normal daily activity — not immediately after the gym, manual labour, or in cold weather.
