Most wedding bands are 4โ8mm wide (women's) or 6โ10mm wide (men's). A wider band covers more of the finger and feels tighter than a narrow ring of the exact same measured size. The wider the band, the more you need to size up. This is the most common cause of ill-fitting wedding rings.

Use regular printer paper โ not tissue paper (stretches) or card (too rigid). The strip should be smooth and non-stretchy for an accurate reading.
Wrap at the base of the exact finger on the exact hand the wedding ring will be worn. Snug but not cutting in. Keep the strip flat with no twists.
Mark where the end of the strip meets the overlapping section, then lay flat and measure with a ruler in mm. This is your circumference reading โ match it directly to the chart above.
๐ก Measure 3 times and average the results. Fingers can vary up to 1mm between readings. Always measure in the evening when fingers are at their largest โ wedding rings are worn all day, every day.
The most reliable method when you cannot measure the finger directly
It must be from the correct finger on the correct hand. The left ring finger is typically smaller than the right for right-handed people by approximately half a size.
Place the ring on paper, trace the inside circle, and measure the inner diameter across the widest point in mm. Alternatively, lay a ruler directly across the inside of the ring. Match the diameter to the Diam. (mm) column in the chart above.
๐ก When between two sizes from a diameter measurement, always order the larger size. A wedding ring that is slightly loose is far easier to resize than one that won't pass over the knuckle.
When buying his-and-hers matching wedding bands from different retailers or countries, both rings must be measured in the same system before ordering. A US 7 (her) and a US 10 (him) from the same jeweller will match perfectly โ but mixing a UK N with a EU 62 from different charts without cross-referencing will produce mismatched results.

Many buyers order their exact ring size and receive a band that is uncomfortably tight. Wedding bands are worn permanently โ a tight band is especially problematic.
