How to Find Your Swedish Ring Size at Home

Swedish jewellery shops may show a ring by its inner diameter, such as 17.0, 17.5 or 18.0 mm, while international brands may show an EU/ISO circumference such as 53, 55 or 57. The safest approach is to record both measurements.

Swedish retailers can present the same ring in two practical ways

When shopping in Sweden, you may see a compact number such as 16.5, 17, 17.5 or 18. This usually indicates the ring's inner diameter in millimetres. Another shop—especially an international or European brand—may list 52, 53, 55 or 57, which refers to the approximate inner circumference in millimetres under the EU/ISO approach.

Neither label should be interpreted without context. A Swedish size 17.5 in a diameter-based chart is not the same thing as EU size 17.5. Its inner circumference is about 55 mm, so it is closer to EU/ISO size 55. A reliable product page should identify whether its number is diameter, circumference, EU size, US size or UK size.

Useful Swedish terms include ringstorlek for ring size, innerdiameter for inner diameter, omkrets for circumference, mäta ringstorlek for measuring ring size, förlovningsring for engagement ring and vigselring for wedding ring.
