The same finger can differ between the left and right hand, and the dominant hand may be slightly larger. Measure the finger on which the ring will actually be worn. For an engagement ring or wedding ring, do not substitute a measurement from another finger merely because it looks similar.

Before paying, ask whether the displayed number is a Portuguese size or an EU size. Portuguese 14 and EU 54 can describe the same circumference, but entering 14 in a retailer that expects EU sizing would be a serious error. Send the seller your millimetre measurement whenever possible.
