They are not US sizes and they are not the inner diameter. A size 52 ring therefore has an internal circumference of about 52 mm and an inner diameter near 16.55 mm.

Some Slovenian brands offer every whole EU size, while others provide only selected even numbers. Independent goldsmiths may make a custom intermediate size or resize a suitable finished ring. Because the width and inner profile influence comfort, the same nominal size can feel different in a slim fashion ring and a broad wedding band.

Plain gold and silver bands can often be resized, but the possible change depends on the alloy, thickness, pattern, stone setting and construction. Full-eternity rings, tension settings, enamelled bands and mixed-metal designs may be difficult or impossible to alter without affecting appearance or security.

For a slightly loose ring, a Slovenian jeweller may discuss sizing beads, an internal insert or a temporary ring guard. For a tight ring, do not force it over a swollen knuckle. Numbness, colour change, severe indentation or pain means the ring should be removed promptly.

Keep the invoice and any written resizing promise. Ask whether the work changes the warranty, hallmark visibility, engraving, surface finish or stone security.
