A complete Thai ring size guide for 2026 — measure your finger or an existing ring, calculate the nearest Thailand size, compare US, UK, EU and Japan conversions, learn useful Thai jewellery terms, and shop more confidently in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket or online.
Wrap a narrow non-stretch paper strip around the intended finger, mark the overlap and measure the length in millimetres. Many Thai jewellers describe the local size using this inner circumference value, so a 52 mm measurement is commonly treated as Thai size 52.
Print this page at 100% or “actual size”. First check the 50 mm calibration line with a physical ruler. Use the circles only when the line prints at exactly 50 mm. Place a comfortable ring over a circle and align the ring's inner edge with the printed circle.
Thai jewellery guides often show a local numerical size that closely follows the ring's inner circumference in millimetres. In that approach, Thai size 52 means an inside circumference of about 52 mm. However, some Thai boutiques use US sizes, while international brands in Thailand may use their own EU-style product numbers. Always identify the system and include a millimetre measurement when ordering.
A 54 mm finger circumference commonly points to Thai size 54.
Example: 5.2 cm × 10 = 52 mm, giving Thai size 52.
A 16.55 mm inner diameter gives approximately 52 mm circumference.
A 56 mm circumference gives an inner diameter of about 17.83 mm.
US sizes use a separate numerical scale. Confirm the seller's chart before checkout.
Japan and other Asian numbering systems are not the same as the Thai millimetre number.
The calculator rounds to the nearest whole Thai circumference size. Some Thai jewellers also make half sizes or use US sizing, and international brands may stock only selected numbers.

Choose the finger on which the ring will be worn. The same finger on the left and right hand can differ, especially when one hand is dominant. A ring that fits the middle finger or little finger should not be used to guess the ring finger size.
Thailand's heat and humidity can make fingers temporarily fuller, while strong air conditioning can make them feel smaller. Avoid measuring immediately after walking outdoors, exercising, carrying heavy bags, bathing in hot water or sitting for a long time in a very cold room.
Use a strip approximately 3–5 mm wide for a narrow ring. For a broad band, use a strip closer to the planned ring width so the test better reflects how much skin the finished band will contact. Avoid elastic thread because it can stretch or cut into the skin.
Wrap the strip around the finger base so it is secure but not painful. Mark the overlap, remove the strip and measure the length in millimetres. If the result is 54 mm, the nearest local circumference size is Thai size 54.
The ring must pass the widest joint and then remain secure at the finger base. When the knuckle is noticeably larger, measure both points and take the measurements to a jeweller. A sizing bead or other adjustment may provide a better fit than simply choosing a very loose ring.
Repeat the process with the same strip width and tension. If the readings vary, make a new strip and try again. A consistent measurement across different times is more dependable than one unusually tight or loose result.
For diamond engagement rings, wide wedding bands, custom gold work, eternity settings or rings purchased while travelling, ask a Thai jeweller to confirm the size using metal sizing rings and a calibrated ring stick.
Use a comfortable, round ring worn on the exact finger you are sizing. A borrowed ring may fit a different finger or hand, while an adjustable ring may not preserve a stable circular measurement.
Place the ring flat and measure straight across the centre from inner edge to inner edge. Do not include the metal walls. The measurement is the inner diameter, not the outside diameter.
A calliper makes tenths of a millimetre easier to read. Touch the inside walls lightly and keep the jaws straight. Rotate the ring by 90 degrees and measure again. Different readings can indicate an oval or damaged band.
Select “Existing Ring Inner Diameter in MM” in the calculator. A diameter of about 16.55 mm gives a circumference near 52 mm, while 17.83 mm gives approximately 56 mm.
A comfort-fit interior, a thick wall, an irregular handmade shape or a wide band may feel different even when the measured opening matches. Ask the seller whether the replacement ring has a similar width and inner profile.
Local Thai jewellery guides may describe ไซส์คนไทย, meaning a Thai size, with values such as 44, 49, 52, 54, 57 or 60. In this circumference-based approach, the number is close to the length around the empty inside of the finished ring in millimetres. Thai size 54 therefore corresponds to an internal circumference near 54 mm and an inner diameter near 17.19 mm.
Thailand also has a highly international jewellery market. A Bangkok diamond boutique may sell using US sizes such as 5, 6 or 7. A global brand's Thai website may display European-style sizes such as 50, 52, 55 or 58, and some charts include Japan, China, India or wider Asian conversions. This means the number alone is not enough to identify the physical ring unless the sizing system is stated.
When speaking with a jeweller, provide both the requested local size and the physical measurement: for example, “Thai size 54, approximately 54 mm inside circumference and 17.2 mm inner diameter.” Written dimensions are especially useful for online orders, custom designs, tourists purchasing jewellery in Thailand and Thai residents buying from overseas retailers.
Ring size. You may see either the formal word ขนาด or the borrowed word ไซส์.
Measure a ring size or have a ring size measured.
Inside circumference — the distance around the empty inner opening.
Inner diameter — the straight measurement across the internal centre.
Finger circumference or the measurement around the finger.
Resize or adjust the size of a ring.
Gold shop. Many local gold shops can help measure a finger or an existing ring.
Diamond shop or diamond jeweller, useful for engagement-ring sizing.
A broad band usually needs more fitting allowance than a narrow ring.
The ring must pass the joint and remain secure at the finger base.
Heat, humidity and strong air conditioning can temporarily affect fit.
The same named finger can differ between the left and right hands.
Eternity bands, pavé shoulders and tension settings need careful sizing.
A rounded interior may feel different from a flat-edged band.
A Thai-language product page does not automatically mean that the product selector uses Thai circumference sizes. Local custom jewellers may use the measured millimetre number, diamond boutiques may quote US sizes, and global luxury brands may use an EU or proprietary number. Read the chart heading and look for the words เส้นรอบวง (circumference) or เส้นผ่านศูนย์กลาง (diameter).
For an overseas order, convert from the actual measurement rather than converting from one rounded size label to another. For example, tell the seller that the finger measures 54.0 mm around or that the existing ring measures 17.2 mm across the inside. The seller can then match that value to the system used for the specific product.
Before paying, confirm whether the price includes resizing, whether personalised or engraved rings can be returned, how international shipping is handled and whether the intended metal or stone setting can be altered safely. Keep a screenshot or written confirmation of the selected size and dimensions.
Ask whether the shop uses circumference-based Thai sizes, US numbers or its own ring stick.
Use the brand's official chart; a number such as 52 may belong to its EU product system.
Match your millimetre measurement to the US column and verify quarter or half sizes.
Do not treat a Japanese number as a Thai millimetre size. Use circumference or diameter to convert.
The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand provides testing and precious-metal services that are separate from ring sizing. A ring can fit correctly while its gold fineness, gemstone identity or treatment information still requires independent verification.
